Visitors invited to take part in Northamptonshire Heritage Fair this April

Exhibitors include many archaeological societies, local and family history groups, narrowboat preservation charities, Naseby Battlefield, Lord Robartes' Regiment of Foote, Wicksteed Park, Deene Park and wildlife groups.  Guided tours of the Archaeological Resource Centre, free children's activities, film shows by Northamptonshire Film Archive Trust and five different talks. “This is a great opportunity to bring together such a large number of heritage organisations and to showcase what the county has to offer. From days out in the countryside, to historic homes, ancient churches and wide range of groups and societies who look after and research their own local patch, we are proud to be supporting this event.”

Jane Bethea, Director of Public Health, Communities & Leisure at North Northamptonshire Council, said:

“We’re delighted to be hosting the Heritage Fair at The Chester House Estate this year, in partnership with Northamptonshire Family History Society and Discover Northamptonshire. It is a brilliant venue steeped in more than 10,000 years of Northamptonshire history which seems fitting for this event. We have an interesting line-up of exhibitors, museums and organisations showcasing their crafts and skills - and some fun activities to get families and visitors involved with. We’re encouraging visitors to come along and engage with their rich local history - visitors of all ages and abilities are welcomed.”

Visitors are advised to park at the Estate’s main visitor car park (NN8 2DH). Accessible parking is available on a first–come, first-serve basis at the Lime Avenue car park (NN29 7EZ).

The Farmhouse cafe will be open serving food and drinks between 10am - 3pm.
